Crap...time flies when your life goes to hell!
Anywho, I am going to start posting fiber stuff again shortly. Life went very far SOUTH...Not going to bore anyone. But never thought all the shit that happened, would happen to me. I guess we never do.
I have actually been as active as allowed...joined some fibery FB groups, so that helped. I just have to make sure they don't consume my "creative" time.
Joined fiber club, so I have been getting different fibers than I have usually spun. More Forrester and Kundert spindles....SOB...this is what happens when you have been doing this stuff forever...people pass or retire. Raw Jacob fleece from local grower as well as Cormo. I want to support local growers as much as possible. Getting some Alpaca locally in the Spring. Hoping to get some BFL as well,
OK...gotta go sing...another therapy...LOL
Pics later this week!

Crapped out !!!
Yup...thought I would be back on track after operation...not so grasshopper !
Six weeks after the procedure...I fell on the ice onto my back...then twice more during the winter it has thrown everything out of wack. Lying down and sleeping is the worse thing...but so is walking..mornings are the worse. I have a bad back anyway(spinal stenosis) and the RA does not help. Both hips, knees...I remind myself of the old Arte Johnson character on "Laugh In" Geesh!!!
Problems with both hands due to parathyroid glands not working have made it truly hard to do any crafts. Imagine really severe carpel tunnel syndrome...
So...I decided to concentrate on the bobbin lace for now and I have finally spangled most of my 268 midland bobbins, including the old bone bobbins that I have owned for about 41 years !!! I will take pictures of these in groups and post them ASAP.
Taking it slowly...

Tomorow Never Came !
Many long months of coming to terms with serious illness. Trying to do everything the Doctors are telling me to do. Not that I agree totally with what they all say, but knowing there are many more months of dealing with all of this.
On top of everything, also dealing with my mothers breakdown and her Alzheimer's at 86. She is in fairly good physical shape, so it makes it hard for her and me.
Being tired all the time is not conducive to creating. Maybe for some superhuman members of the human race, but I am also still dealing with a full-time job ( I know...I am lucky to have a job...especially with health insurance), offspring in college and their loser father.
I did start an Afghan in the beginning of August, trying to work on it while my mother was recuperating. But I realized it was totally screwed up, tearing the whole thing out. Definitely no concentration skills being used during that wonderful episode of my life !
I want to find a better pattern and use, yes folks...Red Heart...so sue me...I don't have a high paying job...so I buy what I can at this point !!! It is the Marrakesh colorway and it cheers me up.
I also need to start the Victorian shawl that uses aran yarn and my oldest knitter child and I are going to attempt to knit each other lace shawls. I, with all the spare time I have, and the knitter child in grad. school !?!? (No...I don't mean grade school). Masters in Ed., although what use that will be in this country, only our wonderful leaders can tell us. Not that I ever expect the truth out of any of them...
But, I digress...I will post pictures of my progress (I swear I did not change the type just to drive people crazy...I have a habit of hitting keys that I did not mean to hit!) when I start these projects.
Now I try to sleep...gotta be awake for the job !

Lost Horizons !
Every once in a while I come out of the life fog..."Oh crap...I haven't blogged !" No excuse, I have wireless, so I can sit outside and post...which makes it so much easier !
I have been taking books out of our fantastic library system...the whole Hudson-Mohawk system (for you folks from NY...this is the real upstate ! )
I request them online and the books are shipped to my local library ! Heavenly !
So...no excuses for not reading lots of textile related books...but the problem is...that is what I have been doing...reading...not doing !
I am gone eleven and 1/2 hours each day (due to long commute to work) and sorry...being close to 60 years old (and health compromised) I am tired when I get home ! So...I veg out and websurf, watch tv or read. Weekends are for spending what extra time I have cleaning, running errands and seeing to my 85 yo mothers welfare ! Not to mention I still have a 16yo at home ! Whew !!!!
OK...I'm done venting...LOL I will get some "real" information on the blog tomorrow...oh...tomorrow will come !

THINGS TO POST !
OK...here is the wip with pictures. Not great pictures, but I am working on that !
I am using the "Learn to Knit Afghan" book by Barbara Walker. I think I mentioned I have been knitting for years, but like to change my stitch patterns..otherwise it gets boring at this point. Short projects are what is currently my "thing".
Great book for all different stitches and pattern variations. Beginners, I highly recommend this book for learning all kinds of things. Kind of an intro. to Barbara's other books on stitches, mosiac patterns etc...
Here is the yarn I am using. Yes...it is acrylic for all you fiber particular folks. The truth is ...while I too prefer natural fiber, my bank account will not support the current cost of beautiful yarns and I don't really have the time to spin all that much. I do feel good about this stuff however, as it is made from recycled bottles !
Below you will find the first three blocks:
Garter Stitch, Stockinette Stitch and Basket Stitch.
Post more as I produce more blocks...however, one never knows if it will be some other knitted product....as the spirit moves me !

LIFE GETS IN YOUR EYES
OK...so I can keep this blogging thing going, I realised I needed to post just short stuff each day.
Seven months have gone by, so it is hard to revisit everything.
Needless to say, I finally moved my 84 YO mother to my state from hers, and I am trying to keep an eye out for her. She has dementia/alzheimers and it is not an easy thing to deal with a person who alternately won't admit there is something wrong and at the same time has some lack of realization about how far gone she really is. I love her dearly, although we didn't always see eye to eye. She was our main parent, as my father was a professional musician and everything else came way after that. So, I listen to the same question nine times in the course of a minute. I listen to the "stories" of her reinvented past. It is all she has, and it will only get harder for her. I should be used to this as she is the fifth senior citizen in my family to suffer from these horrible diseases.
If anyone comes and asks you to donate to dementia etc...DO IT ! It may be your mind you will save in the future.
FIBER POST: I have access to an incredible library system where I live. I live in the country, but I can request books from any library in the Hudson-Mohawk system and I can pick them up in the library closest to me ! So, although I would love to own many textile/fiber books, I can't afford them at all.( Boy would I love to get on the subject of the economy, but that can wait for another post !)So, fiber books have been streaming through my house for quite some time.
I think my creative juices are starting to flow more easily because of this, so I decided to work through Barbara Walker's "Learn to Knit Afghan Book". OK..I have been knitting for about 53 years, so I don't need to do this to learn anything, but just putting all these different patterns together will be more interesting for me. SO.. tomorrow I will put pictures up for the book, and the first two blocks and what I am using. Sorry purists...this LRW can't afford much anymore, so it isn't wool !!!
Beddy bye time,
