THINGS TO POST !

OK...here is the wip with pictures. Not great pictures, but I am working on that !
I am using the "Learn to Knit Afghan" book by Barbara Walker. I think I mentioned I have been knitting for years, but like to change my stitch patterns..otherwise it gets boring at this point. Short projects are what is currently my "thing".

Great book for all different stitches and pattern variations. Beginners, I highly recommend this book for learning all kinds of things. Kind of an intro. to Barbara's other books on stitches, mosiac patterns etc...

Here is the yarn I am using. Yes...it is acrylic for all you fiber particular folks. The truth is ...while I too prefer natural fiber, my bank account will not support the current cost of beautiful yarns and I don't really have the time to spin all that much. I do feel good about this stuff however, as it is made from recycled bottles !

This is the Caron yarn in two darker and two lighter colors for contrast

Below you will find the first three blocks:
Garter Stitch, Stockinette Stitch and Basket Stitch.

Having fun just taking my time and not rushing anything ! Too much of that in my "real" life thank you !

Post more as I produce more blocks...however, one never knows if it will be some other knitted product....as the spirit moves me !

LIFE GETS IN YOUR EYES

OK...so I can keep this blogging thing going, I realised I needed to post just short stuff each day.
Seven months have gone by, so it is hard to revisit everything.

Needless to say, I finally moved my 84 YO mother to my state from hers, and I am trying to keep an eye out for her. She has dementia/alzheimers and it is not an easy thing to deal with a person who alternately won't admit there is something wrong and at the same time has some lack of realization about how far gone she really is. I love her dearly, although we didn't always see eye to eye. She was our main parent, as my father was a professional musician and everything else came way after that. So, I listen to the same question nine times in the course of a minute. I listen to the "stories" of her reinvented past. It is all she has, and it will only get harder for her. I should be used to this as she is the fifth senior citizen in my family to suffer from these horrible diseases.
If anyone comes and asks you to donate to dementia etc...DO IT ! It may be your mind you will save in the future.

FIBER POST: I have access to an incredible library system where I live. I live in the country, but I can request books from any library in the Hudson-Mohawk system and I can pick them up in the library closest to me ! So, although I would love to own many textile/fiber books, I can't afford them at all.( Boy would I love to get on the subject of the economy, but that can wait for another post !)So, fiber books have been streaming through my house for quite some time.
I think my creative juices are starting to flow more easily because of this, so I decided to work through Barbara Walker's "Learn to Knit Afghan Book". OK..I have been knitting for about 53 years, so I don't need to do this to learn anything, but just putting all these different patterns together will be more interesting for me. SO.. tomorrow I will put pictures up for the book, and the first two blocks and what I am using. Sorry purists...this LRW can't afford much anymore, so it isn't wool !!!

Beddy bye time,
LRW

Things are looking up !
Fiber Arts Bloggers have moved to a new home. Now, maybe some of the sites that haven't been used in a few years or so will be gone. Not being critical, more of a comment. It was hard to go through all the blogs to find things that were still current. I know I don't always post, but I keep trying!

Things are also better at work, less tension. My boss had been favoring his secretary with better working conditions, better salary etc...kind of a Pygmalion thing going on, Gack ! I am very easy going, but it was getting to everyone and morale was really sad ! Dysfunction Junction...
I am the senior person, but she got the raise....what can I say. Difficult to work under those conditions.

So, with the advent of spring and the old body feeling better, I am planning to play catch-up with things I have not been able to get to. I have fleeces to prepare, dyeing to get to and this summer my oldest wants to learn how to dye ! I have to encourage the addiction , I mean interest, while she still spends summers at home.
She has joined Ravelry...really started to knit in earnest and I think will get back to spinning as well. I finally convinced her to take her knitting back to school with her after winter break. Low and behold...she discovered what I had been saying all along (silly moms..they don't know anything!)...people stopped making fun of her and wanted her to make all the necessary winter accessories for them ( after all, this is the real upstate NY ! ) as well as socks. She told me the semester was better, because she was happier doing things she enjoys doing, outside of studies, as well as keeping an excellent grade point average!
You go girl !
So, we will journal the summer events as soon as she gets home.

I also just ordered a laptop, as it is hard for me to sit a a table or desk for a long stretch of time. I have to keep my legs elevated much of the time, so I can sit on the couch or on the bed and not worry about the circulation (or lack thereof) in my legs. So, blogging etc..will be much easier for me.
May your spring be all you were hoping for all winter !

WHERE DID THE TIME GO ?

Gack...I have been at this almost a year now, but not on a regular basis. Too many health issues to spend a lot of time.

I have done some fiber stuff since Sep....... knitting , felting and posted pics on my Ravelry spot. Listening to fiber blogs trying to get inspired.
I will be back at it, once I get this picture posting thing down...it is pathetic that I still need the kids to put pictures on my blog. But, I firmly believe that pictures help blogs and very rarely read any blogs if they don't have pics.
I know if I post more often I will master this task ! I want to change the look of the blog as well.

So..later dudes...or as I tell my oldest child..."that's Mom dude to you ! "
